Berean Baptist Family Fellowship Church is a body of believers reaching beyond our walls to embrace those in need of Christ and those in need of a church family. We are unafraid to share the word of God, opening our arms to all who will come to Him. We walk by faith under the leadership of the Holy Spirit while trusting solely on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We highly value our relationships with one another. We look to grow through fellowship, and ultimately growing closer to God. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.

OUR HISTORY

SMALL BEGINNINGS

Transforming lives for the advancement of God’s Kingdom has always been the vision of Berean. Under the power and leading of the Holy Spirit, a small group of believers gather together on Saturday April, 6, 2002 at the home of Reverend David and Clyersa Cooper, in Quarts Hills California, to give birth to a Christ centered, family focused ministry serving the needs of the Santa Clarita Valley. This ministry would be a bible teaching, bible believing church that would serve the spiritual needs of an increasingly diverse group of believers moving to the Santa Clarita Valley.

The name Berean was selected to convey the desire of the members to be like the saints in Berea found in Acts 17: 11: These believers were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether the teaching of Paul were correct.

 

Although the church was founded in April 2002, the doors of the church officially opened on Sept. 15, 2002. Between April and September, letters were sent out to friends and neighbors in the Santa Clarita Valley to gather support for the new ministry. The first official service opened with 5 families and a host of friends and neighbors. Having had a blessed time, one person rededicated herself to Christ and the first official member of the church was added. This movement of God gave confirmation to God’s ordination of this new ministry.

 

For the last 20 years, we,  at Berean have strived to be all that God has called us to be. As we look to the future, “We walk by faith and not by sight” because greater is he that is in us then he that is in the world! The light of Christ is ever shining here at Berean. We are committed to never letting the light of Christ Going Out here in Santa Clarita or anywhere around the world.

Dr. Robert Cooper

Lead Pastor

Dr. Robert Cooper is the founding pastor of Berean Baptist Family Fellowship (2002). Pastor Cooper has a B.A. from Pomona College, a Master’s degree from Brandies University, a Ph.D. from UCLA and attended Channel Island Bible College and Seminary. He has a heart for people and embodies what it means to be a shepherd. With love and compassion, he delivers every message with biblical accuracy and understanding. Pastor Cooper looks forward to the Day of Christ’s return, but until then he is content in shepherding the flock that God has given him at Berean Baptist.

 

Dr. Cooper is married to his wife Paulette of 28 years and they have two children; Nia-Renee (Scripps College ’18)  a graduate student at Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont and Courtney-Nicole, a ninth-grader at the UCLA Geffen Academy.

Sister Paulette White-Cooper

First Lady

Sister Paulette White-Cooper, of Boston serves as First Lady of Berean Baptist Family Fellowship. She has been married to Pastor Cooper for 28 years. Pastor and First Lady Cooper have two children, Nia-Renee (Scripps College ’18)  a graduate student at Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont and Courtney-Nicole, a ninth-grader at the UCLA Geffen Academy. First Lady Cooper holds a Bachelor’s Degree in communications (University of Amherst) and two Master’s Degrees in Education (USC & UCLA). She currently serves as a substitute teacher in the Saugus Union School District.

 

Knowing that God had a special calling on her life, she accepted the enormous challenge of being a First Lady by welcoming it as a privilege and an honor. First lady Cooper is very active in church and serves as a Sunday School Teacher, an active choir member, praise team member, and oversees the “Women of Berean” ministry. Sister Cooper has a passion for helping young girls and women find their purpose and align their lives with God’s will. As an anointed woman of God she gives everything that God imparts into her so that she can serve those around her. First Lady Paulette White-Cooper is truly an unparalleled inspiration to her family, friends and her church.
